Planning

 

 

 

Introduction:

Planning is the process by which one determines whether to attempt a task, works out the most effective way of reaching desired objectives and prepares to overcome unexpected difficulties with adequate resources.   Planning is essential for successful and strategy evaluation, largely because organizing, motivating and staffing depend upon good planning.

Planning includes developing a mission forecasting future events and trends, establishing objectives, and choosing strategies to pursue.    

 

Based on this definition and the most relevant opportunities and threats we had found, our company developed the following objectives. 

 

Long term objectives: 

Recognizing that the main competitors of Aposentos Backpackers promise to be a threat in aspects as   the service quality and the price competiveness. Our organization will be renowned by its cultural and hospital service (differentiation).

The strategy taken by Aposentos Backpackers will be continuously offering a service aligned to the local customs. This task will be taken by the coordinator of the hostel who is encourage of the costumer marketing and supervises the others employees´ works.  

    

Goal: Be renowned as one of the principal hospitality and cultural hostels in Colombia.

 

Will would take advantage of the active foreign policy process in Colombia by generating strategic alliances with some others hostels around the world, in order to be more renowned. 

The strategy could be implemented by a proposal of offering  some % of the gain acquired per each consumer that comes to Aposentos Backpackers recommended by any of this hostels that have alliances with us and vice versa.  The administrator who is encourage of the external marketing of the hostel (alliances) is the responsible of this task. 

 

Goal: At the end of few years, Aposentos Backpackers will have 5 strategic alliances with some independent hostels or even some chain of hostels.

 

With the threat tha exposes the high level of the public image in hostels (dirtiness and cheapness) and the high availability of credit in Cololmbia, Apposentos Backpackers will sustain comfortable facilities for all its visitors.

Every year Aposentos Backpackers will ask for some credits in cases it is not able to pay the need remodeling with only its income. The Administrador who is the manager of the finance and accounting of the hostel will be evaluating the different credi opportunites arround the year. 

 

Goal: generate minimun 2  maintaining inventory per year.

 

Short term objectives:

As we already know that the turisim in Cololmbia  its been growing for the last few years, Aposentos Backpackers will integrate a continue active an innovatite marketing with thw purpose of attract as many tourists as posible. 

Aposentos Backpackers wiil make use of its income to the reaserch and develop of the marketing. This research will be focused on the knowing of the customers and the consumers. 

Goal: being able to dispose the 15% of the income to the research and development. 

 

Taking in count that the employee regulations could represnet a barrier for our organization, we commit to mainain a respectfull treatment with our internal   customers.

The strategies,  implemented by the coordinator, that will be used are three  basic policies of our organizational cultural which  indicates that:

 the importance of the well being of the organization and all its members.

Our members are guaranteed to have their basic needs covered while working in the organization. This will be enforced by an obligatory semi-annual survey where satisfaction will be measured and studied.

Both the coordinator and the administrator will be open to suggestions or ideas aimed at the improvement of the current culture.

Doing the comparison with other countries, Aposentos Backpackers is aware about the low propensity to spend in Colombia. For this reason, we will implement more accessible prices during the year.

The strategy will be the implementation of sales (promotions) into some seasons.    

Additionally, we will generate special packets for the loyal customers or the customers that help us with the motivation for most tourists to come to Aposentos Backpackers.  

 

Goal: sell minimum two promotions or special packets per month.

 

As Aposentos Backpackers found that the alimentation is a weak on its main competitors, the organization will provide a distinctive recognition by its food.  

  The strategy we will use will be the implementation of quality in traditional Colombian food that will appears in the menu. This task will be taken by the cook who is going to be reevaluating the menu with the coordinator and the administrator. 

 

Goal: Manage at least five Colombian traditional meals in our menu.   

 

Opportunities:

The tourism in Colombia has been growing

International Colombian´s perception in terms of security has been growing

Foreign policy process are fundamental in the increase of the tourism in Colombia   

 

Threats:

Multinational hotels firms have been investing in the Colombian market

Public transportation is a chaos in Bogotá

Public image (perception of cheapness and dirtiness in hostels)

Geographical competition  

Low prices into quality hotels

International perception of insecurity in Colombia
